Why Mahila

An adult woman is the center of her household: she creates her family, holds the family together, and sees that the family is taken care of with unconditional love and an enduring strength. She is also a role model to her children by her examples and behaviors.

That is why I find it hard to understand cultures which consider being born a female as a disadvantage.  I was lucky enough to be born in America, where I could put hard work to good use to earn just as much, if not more, as the male counterparts in my profession and garner the respect of others. But in other areas of the world these types of opportunities are much more difficult. That's why I put together the Mahila group -to give an opportunity to women to rise above the poverty they were born into and create their own independent futures, and give strength to generations for years to come.
